totally not watching the hills right now...

ok ok. i do not want to admit it... but i am watching the cattiness that is kristen, the annoyingness that is lo + the
hideousness that is heidi monster-tag. what in the world made her think all those surgeries would make her prettier? she was
perfectly lovely before!
anywho... back to not watching the hills...

whatever. this is still one of the most creative, well-shot pieces i've seen on tv in a while. please take a sec to watch.

golden desires...

ok so i've been eyeing these two watches for a while now. i've "visited" them to try them on three times... and i just can't make up my mind! i love the mk gold watch shown in the collage of gold {via here.}
but i also love this horn shell mk watch with golden accents.

opinions anyone? ...anyone? bueller?

marbleous chocolate-peanut butter cake with salted caramel glaze...

that's right. it's a mouthful. a mouthful of amazing cakey deliciousness! this cake has everything you could ever want {except diamonds, unless salt crystals count?}... chocolate, pb + salt. {death by cake}
addy really wanted some batter. but she had to settle for her non-allergenic prescription dog food.
and... {to feed my salt addiction} i got to add sea salt to the top of the salty caramel glaze!
after about 35 minutes... a dessert was born.
om nom nom...
{pretty sure after this post, i'm going to eat a piece just like above.}
it wasn't too difficult, check out the recipe for yourself below.

from bhg here!

ingredients

  •   Nonstick cooking spray
  • 2  cups all-purpose flour
  • 4  tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2  tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4  tsp. salt
  • 1/8  tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2  cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1-1/4  cups granulated sugar
  • 2  eggs
  • 3/4  cup dairy sour cream
  • 1  tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1/3  cup milk
  • 3  oz. bittersweet chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1/2  cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1  recipe Salted Caramel Glaze, recipe below
  •   Sea salt (optional)

directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly spray 10-inch fluted tube pan with cooking spray; set aside. In bowl stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
2. In large mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on low to medium speed 30 seconds. Add sugar; beat until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating on low to medium speed 1 minute after each addition and scraping bowl frequently. Beat in sour cream and vanilla. Alternately add flour mixture and milk to butter mixture, beating on low speed after each addition just until combined.
3. Divide batter into two bowls. Stir melted chocolate into half the batter until well combined. Stir peanut butter into remaining half until well combined.
4. Alternately drop spoonfuls of batter into prepared pan. Use a small metal spatula or butter knife to gently swirl the batters together (no not overmix).
5. Bake in preheated oven 40 to 45 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes on wire rack. Remove cake from pan; cool thoroughly on wire rack. Drizzle cake with half of the Salted Caramel Glaze. If desired, sprinkle with Sea Salt. Pass remaining sauce. Makes 12 servings.
Salted Caramel Glaze: In heavy small saucepan melt 1/4 cup unsalted butter over medium-low heat. Stir in 1/4 cup packed brown sugar and 1/4 cup granulated sugar. Bring to boiling, stirring constantly. Stir in 1/2 cup whipping cream and return to boiling. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in 1/2 to 3/4 tsp. sea salt. Cool completely. Makes about 1 cup.

{ a walk in the park }

eight a.m. seemed like the perfect time to go for a walk in the park. so that's what my sister, my doodle + i did!
i think addy had fun...
we played on the playground...
and played some more...
then walked back home where addy proceeded to sleep all afternoon.

all-in-all, a very successful sunday! hope you had a nice weekend, too :)

where the green grass grows...

that's right. i'm getting back to my country roots tonight + hitting up the tim mcgraw concert! he is hands down my favorite country singer  e v e r. there is something nice about listening to lyrics that actually tell a story you can relate to rather than "paparazzi" or something else equally hollywoodish.
{yee.haw.}
:)

first pic is one i snapped ten minutes from my hometown at a scenic outlook point.
second is me + my sister @ a sunflower maze/ pumpkin patch. love.

while these pics are from previous "girl nights" of the past, i had some quality gal pal time last night, too! it is so nice to be surrounded by girls that you trust. girls that won't judge you or challenge you. i'm definitely lucky + counting my blessings.

an afternoon tune...

passion pit :: little secrets

currently my fave album to lift my energy levels! enjoy.

why o' why do heels hurt me so...

seriously.
i will be eternally grateful if anyone can recommend a brand or specific heel that doesn't kill your feet. they're so cute. i want so many. why feet why!?

first day at the new job + everyone is wearing amazing footwear! i have a feeling i'll have to settle for one pair of bearable heels + then invest in some cute flats + sandals this summer. :)

{ european vintage }

check out suzi west's amazing condo, right here in the short north of columbus, ohio! if you remember my 'short north wedding walk' series of posts with tons of photos... you may remember suzi's shop: collier west. suzi has incredible taste. her space was recently featured on apartment therapy {yay!} see the full post + tons more pictures here. love her style, too? then you have to click on over to her amazing shop: collier west.
{what i wouldn't do for one of those chandeliers!} and last but not least, her blog.

i love the chandeliers as bedside lighting. may have to steal that idea.

{ matt+celeste get married }

this weekend was full of wedding festivities for my friend + former co-worker, matt.
 and while everything very untraditional {notice the ukulele being tossed through the air during the vow reading} it was very unique + beautiful. the ceremony + reception had their stamp all over it.
happy wedding to the lovely bride + groom!
celeste made her wedding gown from the wedding dresses of her mother, aunt + sister. amazing!
the wedding favors were homemade wooden ornaments {matt loves christmas} with a drawing of an elephant wearing shoes that he drew for celeste to tell her "i love you" {elephantshoes. get it?}
the friday before the wedding, there was a "wedding tournament" to determine roles within the huge wedding party. {i was in charge of decorating the tables. note the stunning displays below .ahem.}
lanterns + colorful flowers in jars lined the tables.
sister of the groom {katy} and myself.
chris + i
everyone in the wedding party wore these adorable bow ties, made by matt + celeste.
bffs erin + joshy! she made the trip down from chitown for the occasion! i miss her so much!
see even more photos here.
hope you all had a lovely weekend, as well.

so over the tiger drama...

if you haven't seen the nike tiger woods spot yet... watch it here.

it's getting a ton of buzz.
some people think it's genius advertising, as he makes his comeback and keeps nike as a sponsor.
some think it's creepy that it is his dad's actual voice, reprimanding him.
i think i'm tired of focusing on tiger's personal life. it's none of our business. he owes us nothing. let's get back to golf.
enough is enough!
what do you think about this whole fiasco?

{ pixels }

this is awesome.
happy friday, everyone! :)
