back to the mainland...

i'm baaack! 

after three days of prepping + shooting, one tsunami + two flight cancellations later... i made it back to the mainland. and it's snowing here. ick. 

my time on the island was a.ma.zing! i can't wait to share more photos! 

here are just a few.

shoot day number one...

yep. this is a whole new side of hawaii. this is the country country. roosters, dogs, dirt... the whole sha'bang. but what amazing scenery we saw along the way. this backdrop was unreal. i can't imagine waking up every day to these lush mountains. gorgeous.

{p.s. this is the first time i've been under extended sun this year... i think i have a tan/burn. whatev - i'll take it!

{ aloha }

well, i'm almost packed for my first ever hawaiian getaway! and it couldn't have been a better time. this snow absolutely stinks right now. {climbing up a mini mt. everest after parallel parking just to get to the sidewalk at my apartment is not my idea of a good time.} actually going for a tv shoot for work. so yes, i will be working. but at least i'll be working in 80 degree weather and amongst the palm trees! souvenirs anyone?

if i get off the plane {after a grueling 11 hour ride... yes... shoot me plz} i am going to be monumentally disappointed if they don't put a lei around my neck upon exiting. 

also - i keep picturing hawaii as in 'gidget goes hawaiian.' so basically if hawaii doesn't look like a tropical 1950... i'm not going to know what to do. {yes. i am stereotyping. i'm sorry.} i wonder if i'll find moon doggie. 

either way, i can't wait! i may get a post or two in remotely, but if if not... have a wonderful week, everyone!

{ the one show }

ok. i'm being a little boastful here... but... the bf and his creative team won a one show pencil this week! for those of you who are saying "a one what?" the one show is an international advertising competition {aka the grammies of advertising} he flew to l.a. to attend the award show in hollywood, along with the biggest names in advertising. bbdo, ogilvy, leo, y+r, mcann... etc. he + his team entered their project under the "branded entertainment + gaming" category, and were up against legends like gatorade, espn monday night football and matel. anyway, they won the bronze pencil {aka third out of eleven finalists!} and they couldn't be happier.

as they should be!

i'm incredibly proud of all of them. they really deserve the recognition for all the time and dedication put towards this site. 

way to go, boys!

cuddling is in the air... no, really it is...

developed in-house by the air new zealand designers and engineers, the 22 "skycouches" will take up the first 11 rows in the economy cabin of the carrier's new boeing 777-300 planes, and will be formed out of three economy seats abreast that fold out to create a lie-flat space (complete with full size pillows) stretching right up to the seats in front. i love it. now if only there was a curtain at the foot.

so i'm loving these pieces right now! the first two are wendy mink {found here} + the last one is banana republic. i love them all but have really been looking for earrings like these turquoise chandeliers for a while. and banana is having a 25% off sale at the moment! with a little convincing from the bff,  aubrey... i just may have to do it. 

other than shopping online, i'm propped up on the couch with a magazine, a glass of wine + the olympics. {l o v e the olympics!} you could say i'm really enjoying this welcomed evening break.

six days + counting...

honolulu, hawaii... i'm coming soon!

we're supposed to be getting another eight inches of mean snow today + i'm sick of it! 

the snow canceled our shoot in cincinnati, rescheduled for later in the week.

but this sunny forecast gives me a glimmering ray of hope! 

sure i'll be working while i'm there, but am hoping to have a free day or two. and hey, i'll take working from the islands vs. ohio any day!

i need to start pulling out my flip flops! {omg, harsh realization... my feet are hideous!}

happy happy valentine's day to everyone! it's freezing out there, hope you stayed warm + cozy.

yesterday, the bf brought me gorgeous red roses + took me to an amazing dinner at j liu in worthington. which gave me the opportunity to wear my favorite, festive red dress + heels. {note: i had to wear my uggs from the house to the car, heels in hand. i am done with this snow business.}

we each ordered the filet mignon with potato cakes {oooh... potato cakes!} and sweet asparagus. 

we tried a bottle of terra rosa malbec {our favorite grape} +  hoped we'd have room for dessert -  but to no avail. too bad, because there was a decadent gem on the menu called 'fudgey wudgy cake' - we'll just have to go back!

today, we lounged + watched 'you've got mail' - one of my favorite sappy love movies. followed by a delicious official valentine's day brunch. so much good food this weekend 

as i've been a little frazzled + on edge lately with all that's going on with my busy schedule... the bf has been extremely understanding + supportive. it reminds me just how lucky i am to have someone i love + that whole heartedly loves me back... just the way i am. {even when i am frazzled.}

i've been traveling for work {still am} and i could definitely do without the white stuff.

lately i've been trying to channel my many styles into just one {or two.} i think i'm falling somewhere in this shabby chic range. i love the light airy feel with just a few pops of bright color. rather than light blue + white... i'm thinking shades of grey and bits of orange. 

and a shabby chic white rug that i've had my eye on may be perfect!

pieces of a weekend...

this weekend went way. too. fast. {per usual} saturday, we started off our downtime with coffee + some shopping. i'm lucky that the bf is a patient shopper when with me :) because of that, i'm the proud owner of this silence + noise tweed blazer and adorable knit hat.

saturday night was spend with friends + sunday has been a day of cleaning, super bowl-ad-watching + other miscellaneous chores.

sunday night has resulted in stressing out about the week ahead, already!

the bf is heading to florida for work tomorrow + i'll be traveling two days this week, also. maybe that means this week will fly...

feels like a whole month has been jammed packed into this week! friday is finally here! i have no idea what i am doing this weekend + i don't care. i want to eat, drink, sleep, run + catch up on dvr for sure.

we're supposed to be getting 4-6 inches of snow friday night through saturday. 

maybe a snowman is in order?

this past weekend, i ventured to chicago to visit my newly relocated friend, erin. {left} and it just so happened that my very best friend since college was in town the exact same weekend! aubrey {middle slash bottom.} needless to say, i had an amazing time. including the photo shoot we had in this phone booth. more {better} pictures to come soon. i am way behind on uploading from the nikon.

weekend consensus: i love chicago. and my friends.

{ vintage jewels plz }

lately i've been in love with vintage jewelry – mainly because i recently stumbled upon some of my grandmother's fashion accessories {and fashion sense.}

i've particularly been loving a long gold chain with a gold disc pendent {pics to come soon} and her golden nugget necklace that she had welded together from several gold pieces she didn't wear anymore. it's lovely.
