tweenbots are cute...
tweenbots! these cute little guys are part of a smart human interaction project. trying to find out if random strangers will take time out from their busy ny lives to help this odd little robot as he tries to navigate his way through central park, trying to get to the destination written on his flag. read more about this project here.

{ microsite monday }
queensland, australia's department of justice + attorney general have created an interactive microsite targeting gen Y. get out there - a survival guide for young adults. smart + engaging. they've thought about how the target would prefer to receive information on renting, buying, higher education, healthcare, etc. i suspect young adults are more likely to spend time on a site created to entertain as well as inform — rather than heading to a blah government url and sifting through mounds of pdfs, documents and other material. just isn't gonna happen. if the government departments are properly promoting and driving targeted traffic to this url, i think it's a great use of a microsite to segment their audience.

*sun + swim*
twenty days... but who's counting...
in less than three weeks, i will be on my way to beautiful sunny california. san diego to be exact. will be packin' these shades + swim suit for a week of sun bathing, sight seeing + relaxation.
anyone have "must sees" in san diego? recommendations are more than welcome! this will be my first visit to the city.
{ thyroid cancer }
i'm currently working with thyroid cancer survivors association (thyca.org) to develop outreach communications. while researching what awareness materials are out there, i ran across these for light of life foundation. very smart + surprising. they made cancer edgy by illustrating that the fastest growing cancer isn't one we think of first. got into commarts — well done by lowe. now the challenge... to come up with something that clever...

{ microsite monday }
this new lacoste site definitely packs a lot in, but it nicely integrates and mirrors the popular print ads. once you get past the intro (which as the "skip" button says, is really great + you should watch) you can choose to browse outfits by clicking on the wildly posed models. the load music/txt is a little in you face, but overall i think the music really adds something to the site (that something may be a sweaty, preppy techno club virtual party) but at least it's more entertaining than your typical "loading..." graphic. aaand no microsite would be truly complete without... games. you can choose to play a simpler version of guitar hero featuring each model. not sure that it makes me want to buy the clothes, but it's interesting. overall i'd say good effort, nice production on the intro and nice graphics. it's fairly easy to navigate. plus, if you're only interested in buying, there's a "shop online" tout that takes you to something more manageable.

*loving leather*

ok... so it's not real leather. but it feels like it. my purchase from urban outfitters this weekend. aaand i looove it! i debated for a few days... i'd visit it at the store - then leave it. but now... pretty new (almost) leather jacket, you are mine! and i heart you. i especially love it paired with a pretty girly dress for a textured (but still feminine) contrast. yay.

{ carry the flag }
into the playoffs! at 7pm tonight the puck will drop + the columbus blue jackets will make their debut in the stanley cup playoffs — versus the detroit red wings! should be a tough series, but here's hoping. let's go jackets! {i will, of course, be intensely watching #50... *swoon*. can you blame a girl?}

what's happening now...
one of my favorite new campaigns. in a time obsessed with analytics, statistics + staying connected in general — this commercial is spot on. and the site nails that single idea + provides stats you didn't even know were possible. way to go goodby.
find out what's going on right now — at sprint's now website.

*yellow sticky notes*
one of my favorite short animation films. very creative + impressive, made with something so simple. {you'll find hundreds more doodles if you take the time to pause and check out some of the buried frames.}
{ a mix of pretty }
love the mix of the leather with denim and lots of pearls + silver. from a favorite daily read: blog de betty.

yeah yeah, when logos fly...

... wait — what?
specially shaped 2 x 3 foot bubble clouds are being created by alabama special effects company "snowmasters." flying logos, or "flogos", have been used at events by mcdonalds, hard rock and sheraton. really? bubble logos floating around in the air? what's next... neon, glow-in-the-dark clouds? according to the la times... yes. sigh.

behind the scenes...
[/caption]started today at 7:30 am + finished up around 6:30 pm. i love being on shoots. reminds me just how much work goes into a production. if we needed this much time for a :15 spot... i really appreciate what goes into shorts + full length films. { checkout a few more behind the scenes pics on my flickr page }

*microsite monday*
it's.... cheese cupid! pick a drink + find it's cheese soulmate. find out what cheese goes best with a cab or pale ale, + which snacks pair well with gouda, etc. i hear there is now an iphone app for this. i will be downloading momentarily. this a microsite from wisconsin cheese ( http://www.eatwisconsincheese.com/ ) + i heart it.
this site isn't brand spankin' new, but i thought of it over the weekend when the bf arrived at my door with a block of dubliner cheese + malbec in hand. ahh... two of my absolute favorite things. {i'll take a hunk of cheese over chocolates any day.}

{ nice lil weekend }

started off with a friday night date + delish dinner at haiku. i live two blocks from this restaurant, but surprising enough, this was my first time there. not being a huge fan of sushi (or seafood in general. i know i know. but it's squishy... i'm very consistency oriented) i had never ventured in. but am glad we did. starting with my new fav appetizer, eda mame, then an amazing dish of haiku chicken. yum. can't wait to go back + sit on the patio!

that was followed by a saturday afternoon of short north gallery hop — where i played with my new camera... a lot. and did a wine tasting at vino 100. (which we were actually less than impressed with :/ o well) it was a beautiful day to take out the nikon.

the perfect end (if there is such a thing as a perfect end to a weekend) was a sunday including brunch at banana bean cafe, mmm... i ordered bananas foster french toast (so what if it's basically a dessert?) + coffee. amazing. i will be back! followed by a trip to north market + a jog with the doodle. ahh how i love weekends of 65 + sunny!

ms-dos... is that you?
in italy d'adda, lorenzini + vigorelli, bbdo has launched a new website. quite opposite of modern. try not to have a seizure during the intro. it is borderline too long, but holds those all to familiar sounds of modem dial-up. (biiiing bong pshhhh <-- i imagine that's how it would like written out.) getting to see actual work was a little too time consuming for me. i also had trouble navigating back home. the opening copy is a little strange, too. hm. does this site date the agency? (no... not like xoxo date) or is it creative vintage? i give this one a: meh. ::pshhh bong bing-bong-boing-pshhhh::

modern indeed

take a second to visit modernista's website. with an overlay nav system + pages built into social networking sites a la facebook, flickr, delicious + their blog site... it is indeed *modern.* i think the concept behind it is great. also positions them perfectly as an agency showcasing what they do best. creative. easy to navigate, yet semi-confusing at the same time. trying too hard? what do you think of this format?
love? hate? love/hate? just wanna have an affair with it? crush? hm...
dear domino...
i miss you! i miss your colorful decorative ideas + your shabby chic rooms of style. why did you have to go? i didn't even get the chance to recreate your mid century modern living room. our time together was so short. i fear i will never feel my inner designer's heart flitter when approaching the mailbox again. sigh. we'll always have our jewel tone inspiration. rip domino + my deco file.

hey look... it's barack timberlooney
in may 09, esquire will release their mix + match cover featuring the faces of barack obama, justin timberlake and george clooney. check out the video to see how cool { or creepy } it's gonna be. i wonder how they landed on these three. the ridiculous last name combo would be enough for me.
{ happy wednesday }
get ready. get out there + have a great day! friday is rounding the corner. i can almost see it.
*wine me*
tried two new wines recently. the one on the left i purchased from vino 100 a mix between merlot and cabernet, it was the first wine i'd had with wine crystals – or tartrates. to get the best taste, you should open at least an hour prior to drinking. the crystals the form on the bottom of the cork + the sides of the bottle are characteristic of a wine that has had the benefit of long bottle aging. i give it a B-, only because at the end of a glass i would find some of the crystals and didn't particularly care for the mixed texture. the tiny bottle on the right was brought back from greece by my sister. it is merely a red table wine. she said many a times, their indecisiveness over restaurant drink menus resulted in free bottles. if only my indecisiveness in life resulted in free wine. the greeks are onto somethin'.
